EnSpire Standby UPS

EnSpire Standby UPS prides itself by being a power supply backup option carrying a very low cost that successfully guards and protects high priced equipment and services. This UPS device is manufactured by Para Systems Inc, the company based in Carrolton Texas which has over 25 years of power supply manufacturing and client services experiences.

Each unit comes with six outlets. All of them offer spike and surge protection. But only three outlets, marked by “Battery and Surge” sign, provide battery back up option, meaning only units connected to those ones will have a continuous running time if the main grid is cut off. Thus, customers need to pay attention and prioritize in which way they want to connect their equipment.

Although the unit was designed to be as compact as possible, measuring 11.97” in length and 4.84” in width, there still exists enough space to support two transformer blocks to be plugged in at the same time. Furthermore, there are separate connections for protecting faxes, phones and telecommunication devices, and the unit can be wall mounted.

This power supply and backup unit features USB communication which permits Microsoft Windows programs to easily identify the unit. Thus, there is no need for any additional USB drivers. The software that comes with this USP consists of Minuteman SentryPlus program which manages auto-shutdowns and monitoring of power consumption. Included full program license requires no special downloads or use of any coupons and can be used with following operating systems: Microsoft Windows XP/2000/2003/95/98/Me/NT4, Red Hat Linux, SuSE Linux, FreeBSD, and other Unix/Linux systems.

Users should be aware that the power supply back-up time with full load is around 3.2 minutes while at the half load is 8.9 minutes.

Product line consists of two models, the MMEN400 which is 400VA/200 watts unit and MMEN600 representing 600VA/300 watts. The 400 unit weights 6.8 Lbs. and the 600 model weights 7.1 lbs. Both of their batteries can be replaced by users with current market value around $38.

The company offers three-year parts and labor warranty and additional $50,000 Minuteman Platinum Protection Plan for U.S.A. and Canada only. However, the replaceable battery is covered by a two-year warranty.

The company suggested retail value of the EnSpire Standby is $54 for EN400 and $79 for EN600 model.
